JrAHA’s Governing Board' primary role is oversight and leadership and is made up of an active group of instructors in "Outdoors" subjects
Edgar L. Gerhardt, III founder and Chairman of the
Governing Board is a qualified Area Chief in Aquatic Education, Certified
Boating Education Instructor, certified as a NASP Archery Instructor Trainer and a
Certified Hunter’s Education Instructor for TPWD and qualified as a Huntmaster
for Texas Youth Hunts. For
15 years he held a USCG Master’s License for 100 gross tons vessels, Gulf of
Mexico. He holds a BBA
degree from the University of Texas with majors in general business and
accounting and frequently attends seminars on accounting/business principles
for the nonprofit sector. He is a
past member of the AFP Greater Houston Chapter and holds a certificate from
Rice University for completion of a 2-½ year program for charity fundraising
professionals.
Michael Shirley, AIA LEED AP, and Qualified TPWD Area Chief for Aquatic Education, Certified as a NASP Archery Instructor and a Certified Hunter’s Education Instructor for TPWD. Michael also serves as Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Committee for an Outdoors Center.
John Kovach Qualified TPWD Instructor for Aquatic Education and Certified as a NASP Archery Instructor. John serves as Chairman of the Social Media Networking Committe and Project Fishaton 2011-12.
Cecario Guerrero, has for 15 years been the head of the Houston ISD Ag-Science & FFA program teaching Hunters Education and Wildlife Management. “ CG” is a regional manager for the Texas Youth Hunt and Huntmasters. "CG" is a certified NASP Archery Instructor and a Certified Hunter’s Education Instructor for TPWD.
Carver Walker is a Qualified TPWD Instructor for Aquatic Education and Certified as a NASP Archery Instructor. Carver retired from HISD as an administrator for Facility Operations. Carver is the Chairman of the Equipment & Mobil Classrooms Committee.
Corey Allen, CPA represents KPMG, LLP on our board and is a Qualified TPWD Angler instructor and team leader for KPMG’s community service group volunteering as angling instructors. Corey is also a Certified NASP Archery Instructor.
